The list could go on, but you see, there are a lot of problems that comes along when you buy network marketing leads from others.

The solution is to create your own!

That way, you wouldn’t have to go through all the hassle of manually calling people with minimal assurance of getting them to join you. Quit buying leads and engage in the activity of generating your own.

Hi Guys, I hope you are doing great today!

Yesterday I was thinking about a great subject to write a post on, namely the similarity between marketing and courting…! Have you ever thought about it this way?

First let me start with a quirky question and story and you’ll see what I mean…

Do you remember those days when you were secretly in love with the girl or guy of your dreams, but he or she didn’t know it yet…?

Think back…, do you remember the butterflies you had in your belly, how excited you were…?

Do you remember the sweet dreams you had?

Sure you do! Hmmm…

What did you do to get his or her attention…? You were pretty creative, weren’t you?

You made yourself look and smell good, you were very friendly, you made compliments and you tried everything to please him or her.

Personally I remember that I listened and observed her very closely to see what she liked to do in the weekends, which food she liked, which music, clothes, kind of movies,… she liked. I tried to find out everything she liked and needed so I could please her…

When we are in love we do these things in one press of a button. We don’t think at all, it’s like an instinct!

There’s no way of asking these questions…: “How can I convince her to like me or how can I sell her on liking me…?” NO, you try to find out what she likes and needs, and by giving this to her you develop a relationship… In other words, you court her!

Maybe this is kind of a weird comparison, but what makes up the definition of marketing is just the same thing.

Read on, I’m going to explain myself :

Marketing is about finding solutions to problems people have and about helping them!
This is really what the definition of marketing is all about…,  finding solutions to people’s problems, finding out what your market likes and needs, and solving their problem by giving value!

BUT, 95% of people who try to market online think the other way around and ask themselves (mostly without being aware of it) questions like these :

- How can I convince people?
- How can I make money?
- How can I sell this or that product or service to people?
- Why aren’t people buying from me and why do they buy from someone else?

How do I know this? Cause I did it myself. I’ve been there for a long time!

These questions are not going to help you at all.

So instead of having these torturous thoughts, these are the questions you should ask yourself :

- What do the people in my market NEED?
- What do the people in my market LIKE?
- What do the people in my market WANT?
- What is their biggest problem?
- How can I help them to solve that problem?
- What is important to them?

This is the way you need to think as a marketer! NOT the other way around.

Ask yourself these question daily, whatever market you are in.

Study your market. I know, it takes some effort, BUT you will have much more fun and satisfaction, you will grow really great relationships AND you will make more money, cause your actions will be focused on helping other people, NOT on YOU making money! And by doing this you will help others and you will make more money along the way.

Do you see now how courting your girl- or boyfriend is related to that great definition of marketing?

Think about it, it is pretty much the same! You are marketing yourself without even knowing it as you try to make her feel really great about herself.

I want to challenge you to actually do this to your customers. I promise you, it will turn your business around!

But just like life itself, these small beginnings sometimes don’t see themselves grow. Like sparklers, they seem to have wicks that limit them. The good thing about it however is that something can be done to make it last and stand the bickering.

#1 People think it’s a joke to start a business online

It may be sloth or procrastination or some other word they call it, but when a marketer thinks that he can get amazing results for his business with little or no effort at all, he’s in a bad shape to start with.

Regardless of automation, tools, and outsourcing service, any online business would need you to work on it. You can’t be an absentee landlord in any virtual real estate, so to speak. So the best thing you can do is to get your hands dirty and do the job well.

#2 They don’t have the skills and know-how

Just because you don’t do legwork in an online business doesn’t mean it’s a no-brainer. In fact, the mere fact that it’s online requires you to retool yourself, meaning good-bye radio and TV ads, or morning-the-night sessions with suppliers, and hello internet marketing.

I’ll let you in on a secret. Find a great mentor, someone you can trust, and you’ll be okay, make sure he knows well how to handle failure in online business.
He’ll tell you what skills you have to know, but you also need to do self-training on the sidelines.

#3 They forget about the people

One more thing you have to remember: learn the skills but keep in touch with people. Whether it’s online or offline, running a business and making it successful still boils down to people and how you deal with them.

So the best secret you can keep is to master your people skills and never ever forget about them.

#4 They don’t know how to discipline themselves

Those who are used to having a boss may find it really challenging to do what it takes to run an online business.

Yes, you have all the time in the world but you have to consider it as your greatest resource. Keep a balance in your life between fun and work.

#5 They are not consistent in their efforts

I have a farmer friend who used to have a problem with less produce. What he did was ask for help from a local cooperative. He was given seeds that can yield good results. He started out with just a few of those seeds, worked hard on growing them, and earned much in his first harvest.

But he thought he had enough and became too sure of himself that he had not worked as hard for his second harvest. The result was he only got less than half of what he got during the first harvest.

So there you have it. You surely can see now how consistency plays God in any business or any endeavor at that.

# 6 They don’t find the business pleasurable

Why you should choose well your business is because of one thing—you should like it that much you feel like you’re not working at all. When you love what you’re doing, you’ll never run out of ideas and you’ll have overflowing creativity.

When Kate Winslet bested many other Hollywood Superstars as she won the Oscar best actress award, she was asked her secret for her successful career. She only had one thing to say and that’s she only wants to do one thing—to act.

So do yourself a favor, make your business your first love.

#7 They don’t have the strength of mind

If there’s one thing that any online entrepreneur should master it’s the “I CAN DO IT ATTITUDE”. There’ll be many loopholes, downfalls, and frustrations along the way, but the one who ends up at the top never gives up along the way.

Remember that you don’t have to be a superhero to be able to run an online business, but if you want to be successful in it, you better be not like everybody.

Are you using Twitter For Marketing?

Each online marketer who finds himself respectable or who is online for several months has a Twitter account nowadays; there’s no question about that.

But are they all using Twitter to its maximum potential AND, more important are they all at least using it THE RIGHT WAY?

Hmmm…. I don’t think so!

To be honest with you, when I first learned about Twitter, about two years ago, I didn’t see it’s potential; I even didn’t like it that much. It was a queer thing for me to send a short 140 character message multiple times a day to tell people what I had been up to. So I didn’t use it that much at first… and I certainly did not use it the right way…

Another “problem” I had was that the number of followers started growing, so it was impossible to keep up with the endless flow of messages from all the other people.

To cut it short, I did not see Twitters potential and I did not know how to use it in a practical way without spending hours and hours on it…

Maybe you feel or felt the same way, and I understand it exactly

But since I’ve understood how it works, I’m sharing with you some ideas and some useful Twitter applications that’ll make your Twitter experience such a pleasurable one and maybe most important will give you a way of using Twitter for marketing (without spamming other peoples accounts!)

You can use these resources to make your Twitter experience more productive and a great leverage of your time.

With this great tool, you can connect with Facebook and MySpace friends through status updates, video and photo posts, comments, or voting and following your friends as they are placed in columns, to keep track of what they are doing.

• Twellow is Twitter’s yellow pages directory, one of the useful Twitter applications you’ll surely love. This is the directory of Twitter accounts with hundreds of categories and advanced search features to find those people who really matter.
  There are many things you can do with Twellow. You can update your Twellow profile and categories as well as add links to your social media profiles. You can also come up with extended bio profiles and add all the links you want. It’s never too hard to follow anyone you are interested in with Twellow and the best part is that it also comes with free registration.

• Twollo is a keyword-based tool that automates the process of getting more targeted Twitter followers than you can possibly imagine. A very useful application that you can setup and forget. Once it’s set up it keeps running and working in the background without you lifting a finger.

• BubbleTweet is the cool tool that allows you to drop little friendly video notes to your Twitter followers, making it easier for you to have as many followers as you want with a Video Bubble Tweet.

• TwitterFriendAdder – This tool is very helpful in targeting specific followers. This allows you to easily remove and add Twitter followers as you want.

• Twitter Karma – This is another tool that lets you remove and add followers. It’s one of the useful Twitter applications that are free but there’s a limitation to it. When you start having many Twitter followers, it takes a very, very long time to do so…

• TwitterCounter – This highly informative tool let’s you know at a glance the number of followers, friends, and number of updates. This would truly help you in comparing one account with another.

• TwitterGrader – This great tool helps you gauge the power of your Twittering. With this tool, you can check on the power leveraged by your Twitter profile. It also includes the number of followers, these followers’ power, and the level to which you engage in a community.

This is merely an overview of some very useful Twitter applications I personally use. As said before these tools will help you a lot when you are using twitter for marketing.

“Marketing Does Not Focus On You!”

In fact, it is about putting yourself in your leads, prospects, or customers’ shoes and thinking, feeling, and perhaps acting like they do.

Generally speaking, this is the marketing psychology any online entrepreneur should have.

When you first had a leap of faith into the online business, you want to know all sorts of online techniques such as article marketing, social bookmarking, SEO, keyword research, PPC, social media and whatever new term or concept that you hear from other online marketers.

Although it’s true that these things are quite significant, you would be surprised to know that when you know a little bit of everything without understanding the concept of marketing, you have nowhere to go.

You can be super genius about SEO, Google Adwords, Article Marketing and the rest but without a sound approach to marketing, people will think that you are just one of those self-proclaimed gurus, greatly pretending that they know everything.

Without the right approach to marketing, you are bound for disaster as people would turn away from you, thinking you are another egoistic fool who claims to help others when all you think about is profit.

I’ll give you a real-life experience I had with a professional kitchen builder. With this experience, I learned mush about the right marketing psychology.

My wife and I attempted several times to butt in and show him what we wanted for our dream kitchen. After all, we are the customers. But the young salesman would not stop, he talked and talked and talked…, but he DID NOT LISTEN!. After an hour, we both got tired and just grabbed the piece of paper where he illustrated his plan for the kitchen. Honestly, we liked it but it was not what we wanted.

Days after we decided to look for another kitchen builder, we came into a kitchen store where a nice guy greeted us. He talked a bit about what services they offer; then the rest of the time he asked as questions and listened while we did the talking. From that conversation, he was able to come up with a kitchen design that is exactly what we want and need. So we ended up buying from the new guy.

You might be saying, “Well, Elmar what the guy did was nothing extraordinary.” Indeed, it’s something that you usually experience in a mall or a restaurant but still it is not practiced online. Online, people are only selling without asking and listening to what people need.

That’s not the way it works. Remember that although offline and online businesses demand different strategies and techniques, the bottom line is you are still dealing with people, who feel, think, and act like the ones you meet in real life. The same principles and the same marketing psychology run for any business, whether you are selling cars offline or you are selling a software online.
