Don’t you just love blog commenting? I do.
And it’s not just because I want to receive backlinks from Do Follow blogs.
It’s always great to learn from other bloggers, get insights from other blog commenters, and give a comment yourself!
Notice how I emphasized “Do Follow”. This is because if you’re commenting to get backlinks to your own blog, if you’re doing it on No Follow blogs, you are NOT receiving any backlinks.
Do follow vs. No follow blogs
Do Follow and No Follow attributes comes into play whenever you leave a comment on a blog that has your link.
Do Follow blogs tell the search engines to follow the link left along with the comment. No Follow blogs, on the other hand, tell the search engines NOT to follow the link that is left with that comment. In other words, with the former, you can get link juice in the form of backlinks; in no follow blogs, you don’t.
A WordPress platform by default is a No Follow blog. However, in order to increase visitor involvement, many bloggers (like me) have turned their blogs into Do Follow blogs. If you’re new to blogging or if your blog is still set to the default No Follow, you may want to consider turning yours into an interesting interactive community.
Here’s what you should do: determine what plugins you will need, and let your visitors know you have joined the DoFollow movement.
How to “Do Follow” your blog
Simply do a search for Do Follow plugin, pick one, install it and activate it! This will remove the No Follow attribute in your comment section.
By making your blog “Do Follow” your spam comments may increase. To prevent this you can install plugins to prevent spam comments as well, personally I use “Akismet” and “SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam”. They eliminate 90% of all spam comments, which is a relief!
Don’t forget to let people know that you are a Do Follow Blog. This way, visitors can, and will more often leave a comment on your blog!
One last thing
Make sure to always leave quality comments on other blogs. To make blog commenting really work for you, search for Do Follow blogs that are in the same niche as yours and have good traffic flow. This will allow you not only to leave a nice comment but generate traffic and gain a backlink as well.
Is your blog a Do Follow blog? How is blog commenting working out for you? Share your thoughts by leaving a comment below, or if you enjoyed this post, don’t forget to share or bookmark! Thank you!

I’ve always been confused about do follow and no follow blogs. Thanks for clearing it up. I’m definitely turning my blog into do-follow! Can you suggest an anti-spam plug-in?

Hi Mark,
Actually I wasn’t focussed on do follow and no follow blogs before, now I’m definitely!
As anti-spam plug-in I personally use “Akismet”, another great one you can use is “SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam”, this plug-in ads a feature to your blog so commenters must fill out a captcha.
Thanks for your great comment!

I’m in the process of making my company blog.
Thank you for the tips. I hope that making my blog a “Do Follow” blog will bring in traffic. I also got the “Si Captcha” to get rid of spam.
Thanks for the tips!

Hi Glen,
Indeed, setting up a “Do Follow” blog can help in bringing in some traffic. But of course, there are some other factors to consider such as your content, keywords, etc…
Thanks for dropping by Glen and I’m glad you find this post helpful!

I wonder how long this SEO system will last. I seem to spend several hours each week leaving comments on do-follow blogs, just to keep my site at number one.

I’d love to share the link-love with a do-follow, but I was receiving so much spam – the Russian gibberish/Viagra kind – that it was overwhelming. I ended up shutting off comments.
Shame, since its a good way to engage with my customers…

Do follow blogs are magnets for SEO people looking to boost linking profiles – of course to do it naturally you ideally need a mix of do and do not follows but upside is your blog gets more engagement which will help it rank anyhow..
